Single Parent Sessions

There are few jobs in this world more difficult, important and rewarding than raising children. Being a single parent is twice as difficult, twice as important and twice as rewarding. Single parents don't have it easy but somehow they always find a way make it work. Often going unrecognized they are the silent warriors of parenthood, playing both roles with grace and poise and they deserve to be celebrated.

Being raised by a single mother myself, I felt inclined to give back with free photography

sessions for single parents and their children. I advertised 5 mini family portrait sessions on social media and quickly filled all of the slots. On the day of the sessions I sent out reminder messages and as a perfect example of how difficult and busy being a single parent is, all but one family had something come up and was regretfully unable to attend.

Roben was the only parent who was able to participate in the sessions. She and her child were so lovely and easy to photograph playing in the park. The beautiful bond they share is carried through their images. That in my opinion is something that is very special about single parents and their children. There is a special bond formed when it's just the two of you against the world. I feel so grateful to have been able to experience that in my personal life and to be invited to capture it for others.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the single parents who were unable to attend and all of the other parents out there playing both roles. We see you and we appreciate you and all of the work you do. You're doing an amazing job!
